!±8± Dealing With Diaper Rash

While diaper rash is often associated with baby's. Diaper rash (irritant diaper dermatitis) can occur in adults who have incontinence. Of most concern would be patients who are bedridden. These patients need to be on a routine to maintain skin care and overall health. Diaper rash can lead to skin breakdown if not properly treated.

Diaper rash occurs in the area where incontinence occurs, the buttocks, anal area, and genitals. Visual indicators include redness of the skin, raised bumps, and burned looking skin. Reasons that diaper rash occurs when the pH of the skin increases when a prolonged presence of urine and fecal matter is in contact with the skin. Normal skin pH is about 4 to 6.5, and the lower the pH the more acidic.

Cleaning the affected area is also needed to maintain skin integrity. Perineal cleansers such as Avianne's Hazel Fresh and Dermarite's Perigiene are pH balanced, non-rising formulas which cleanses the perineal area. They also neutralize the ammonia found in urine and feces and therefore eliminates orders. The use of just plain soap and water can be messy, time consuming and dry the skin too much. The combination of a perineal cleanser and a disposable wipe make perineal care quick and easy.

These creams provide a waterproof layer so that the skin does not come into contract to wetness. In addition, they contain vitamins, which will leave skin soft and supple.

0-3 Month Updates on Justin :)

hey everyone! i forgot to mention that when he was born i tried to breast feed him but he never latched on! at the hospital they gave me nipple shields but they didn't work because my nipples are super flat, so then they gave me medela symphony pump and i had to pump alot then my milk came in 3 days after having him.. meanwhile he was on similac advanced formula, we gave him 20cc of formula every 4 hours at the hospital, then when he came home we gave him 30cc untill i had enough milk to pump out.. then we started to breastfeed him.. i would pump about 2 to 3 ounces of milk from each breast and it took about and hour to pump all of that milk out.. we breastfed justin till he was about 3 and a half weeks old then we had to switch him to formula because my milk supply went down alot and my body wasn't making enough milk to feed him (and he was already drinking 2 ounces of breastmilk every 2 to 3 hours.) it hurt me alot to put him on formula, but i know that it wasn't my fault because my body just wasn't making enough to feed him plus my nipples are super flat so he just would've never latched on. he's on formula now and so far we haven't had any major problems with the formula, sometimes he goes a day or 2 without pooping but i called my doctor and she told me that its pretty normal for baby's not to poop everyday at this stage because they need all the nutrition they can get for there development so there's just really nothing to expell. thank you all for watching and ...
